Lizzie Borden

Lizzie Borden was born July 19, 1860 in Fall River Massachusetts. She was charged with the murders of her father and stepmother. Her biological mother died in 1862 from complications from her birth of her sister Emma. But her father who could have cared less was all about money he was worth about $500,000 himself because he was a wealthy businessman. Three years after his wife’s death he married a woman by the name of Abby Durfee Gray who Lizzie didn’t seem to be fond of. Lizzie was a very popular person she was known to be active in all kinds of charity and civic duty. Without any signs from her father, she and her sister Emma were withdrawn from his inheritance, and that’s when everything started to go downhill. Lizzie and her father argued more than ever, but no one knew that all that would change in just a matter of time.
Then all of a sudden some of Andrew’s and Abby’s belongings came up missing, her father’s money had been stolen and Abby’s jewelry had been stolen also. Even though Andrew and Abby really didn’t have to think on who stole their items Andrew and Abby still found it important to do a police investigations. So after all of that had happened her sister Emma decided to take a trip just to get away from everything that had been going on in the house because Lizzie, her Father and Abby argued almost every day? On a Thursday morning of August everything was about to change, and no one knew how.
At 11:15am Thursday the Borden’s maid Bridget heard Lizzie screaming that her father had been killed. When Bridget returned within seconds with the doctor he was pronounced dead. Lizzie then told Bridget that she felt that her stepmother had also been killed so they searched the house and to their surprise she was found dead upstairs. The family doctor (Dr. Bowen) sent a telegram to Emma who was still vacationing and was in no rush to get home to check on her family. Once the bodies were removed from the house, Bridget and Lizzie were both questioned about the murders.
Lizzie told authorities that she had been outside in the barn with the tools.
Witnesses that saw her after the murders say she had no blood on her. Her uncle john had just returned from lunch and had become the first suspect in the murder. And because Lizzie had made herself seem so innocent they figured she would be the last person to kill her parents. Lizzie was soon arrested after the investigations and tried for both murders in 1893 but she was acquitted due to lack of evidence.
Lizzie wasn’t worried anymore about the murder trial after she had been acquitted. She then inherited half of her father’s estate and bought her and Emma a Mansion in one Fall Rivers highest priced neighborhood but Emma and Lizzie hadn’t been getting along after the murder so she decided that she would move away from Lizzie. Lizzie died in 1972 of pneumonia her sister Emma read about her death but didn’t think about going to her funeral. Emma died ten days later from an anonymous fall.
The questions still remains why did Lizzie Borden kill her parents? Why did her sister decide just all of a sudden go on a vacation and not even think to attend the funeral services for her father and stepmother? Did Emma know about the murders and just didn’t say anything? And how did she REALLY DIE?
