Gossip
Gossip starts in the craziest ways possible. It starts by maybe hanging with the wrong crowd or maybe even by being seen with a boy. Gossip is everywhere but is mainly known to be in schools. It has had a big effect at Classic City High school a school where gossip shouldn’t even be or even be thought about.
Gossip is harmful to the Classic City High School environment. One reason it is harmful to school environment is because it causes people to fight. Fighting is not tolerated at this school. People who fight lose their spot in school, and then they have a choice to either go back to their old school or drop out. So Gossiping causes people to lose a chance to get an education.
Some students get to the point to where they are fed up with gossip and they just decide not to go back to school.
For example, there was this girl who had gotten talked about so much that it had gotten to the point to where she was tired of people talking about her because she wasn’t the fighting type of female. She was the type that just let problems dissolve on their own, but these people kept talking about her and teachers weren’t really that big of help so she got so fed up with it that she just stopped coming to school.
The next reason that it happens to be harmful is because it ruins students’ school concentration. It makes them lose focus on what they are supposed to be doing. Say someone has a big math test coming up and then all of a sudden some people come in their face about some he say she say stuff, and they are all worried about who said what; and when they said it. Then it comes time to take the test and they fail it.
Once i had a big test to take in my literature class. Right before I had gotten into my class someone called my name. I said, "what" and then she said, "I heard that you been talking about me." I was looking at her like she was crazy, and I asked her that big question. "WHO TOLD YOU THAT?" Then she told me not to worry about that, so I told her, "Don’t worry about if I have been talking about you or not," and I left it at that. The reason this is harmful to the school environment is because when students are at school the only thing they need concentrate on is your schoolwork.
When I got in class, I got a tardy because I had been out in the hallway talking about something that had no relation to my schoolwork. While I was taking my test, I wasn’t able to concentrate. I was so worried about who had told her I had been talking about her, because someone went and told a lie on me.
Another way gossip is harmful to the school environment is that it ruins students’ reputations, and their friendships. How might you ask? When people come telling students lies about who someone is dating then that big question comes out: "Who told you that?" That’s when all the lies start floating around. An example of how gossiping ruins friendships is when someone comes back and tells you that your "SUPPOSED TO BE BESTFRIEND" has been talking about you. Then you go and confront your best friend about it, and she gets all upset at you because you would believe what someone who loves to start trouble has to say.
I am here at Classic City because I was involved in too much drama at my old school, and I wasn’t getting any kind of work done because I was so caught up with why people were talking about me and why people were telling lies on me. When I came for my interview at this school, the first thing the principal told me was that we do not tolerate any of that drama and fighting. When he told me that, I was glad. I knew right then that I would get a lot of work done at this school. Even though it’s not tolerated over here, people walk in the door with drama on their minds and are ready to start spreading it like wildfire.
If you take the time to stop and think about it, then you would figure that there is no need for gossip. All it does is ruin your life, especially if you are young, and as you grow up, people look at you as that little trouble maker or just a little gossip queen and that makes a person feel bad. If you don’t want to lose your spot in school, or be seen as that type of person who likes to be in middle of drama tell whoever is trying to start drama to take it some where else because Classic City High is not the place for gossip.
